POWER OF THE PLAYA- Will it steer my course back home?

One thing I’ve learned since my first burn in 2005 is to leave the door open for the Playa winds to enter. So I’ll cast a line and let it do what it will with me.

MY CURRENT TIDINGS: I’ve no ticket or means thereof, no potential camps, community, or ride to and from. I don’t really go anywhere to synchronize with community to gain support, as I work almost everyday. I recently worked 27 days in a month and still just barely made it with bills, so being a BRC Citizen is not an option at this moment. But I’d still like to somehow make it to playa and find a conscious community to synchronize with. So I’m putting it out there to see what gravitates.
Currently, I’m scheduled to launch the first of my music education matrix apps this month that I’ve designed over 20 years, so I may be in a position to buy my way into being a participant, but if launch is delayed, it’s up to the playa to decide if my energy is needed there.
I’m not here to grovel or play pity strings, just stating the reality as it is. On that note, what I can offer a variety of participation skills, music playing, playa wisdom, good company, healing facilitation, some stockpiles of bar beverages, and some big picture dreams for the world. I’m extremely knowledgable in ways of the playa, so I’m great at helping with smooth transitions through playa challenges.

Here’s some more background on me…

MY PAST TIDINGS: Since 2005, with only 4 off years, I’ve gifted much to the playa: Set up many sculptures, set up and torn down many camps including Center Camp, done healing and energy work, led a variety of workshops, journey ceremonies, murals, fire conclave, aroma therapy, lighting and decor, music and dance performances, art gifts, culinary gifts, and many other contributions. But I’m also a big picture guy.

OFF PLAYA, I’ve submitted various proposals to the organization to help turn Burning Man’s self-proclaimed “movement” into an economically sustainable movement for its participants within the default world in ways that are in alignment with their principles and vision. Nothing presented has been embraced or discussed from what I’ve seen, but the struggles many BRC CITIZENS go through are very real and need help. i believe this “movement” has a “civic responsibility” to us that requires an “immediacy” to act for our collective betterment through direct “participation”. Yes, a City creating a platform for citizens to gather to solve collective issues is great!! But let’s not forget that there’s an obligation for ANY CITY to directly take action to address the welfare of ALL CITIZENS.

While I respect the manifestations of the organization, we seem to vastly differ in our definition of “Civic Responsibility” it has for its Citizens. Truth is that the world is in agonizing pain right now and the World doesn’t see Burning Man as a movement for the people or world like it claims; they see it as “a festival”. SO LET’S CHANGE THIS!! I’m here to challenge them to reach their potential. This leaves the question, “Are we escaping from the strife of the world at Burning Man… or are we actively strategizing on how to change it?”

Regardless of my differing expectations of “Civic Responsibility”, I still see the vision potential of Burning Man to be a monumental movement force of change within the world. And even though it’s still in the same outdated pay-to-play models it was in 20 years ago, the potential to evolve into something so much greater still exists in suspended animation.

That said, I do appreciate the many contributions it has given and lessons learned through it. I challenge us all not to treat the playa event as a festival for escaping into a temporary reality that dissipates in closing, but as a movement cultivation for accelerating change within the world.

If the height of the momentum peaks at the event and dissipates after… it is “a festival”. If the event cultivates momentum energy that carries over into the world with continual growth amplifying in society, it’s “a movement”. It takes over spreading like wildfire.

Partying is great, but parting with purpose is way better.
