Moonlight Library (honoraria recipient) looking for volunteers!

The Moonlight Collective is recruiting folks in the SF area who would like to join the build team for our installation this year, the Moonlight Library! We received an honoraria for this piece, which takes the form of a romantic ruin of a library.

In 2022 and 2023, we brought an interactive light art installation called the Prairie of Possibilities… With this piece, we collected more than 1,000 stories from individuals in the form of voice recordings. With the Moonlight Library, we will be presenting these stories as physical books that participants can take off a shelf, place on a kiosk, and listen to. The library itself will be a 2 story climbable structure.

We’re looking for folks who’d like to join work parties in the SF area throughout the summer, as well as join our art support camp to help us assemble and strike the piece. This piece is a bigger build than what we’ve done in the past, so we’re especially looking for individuals with experience on big construction-heavy builds.

I’ve attached a rendering of what we are building, as well as a photo of our previous Prairie piece. We’re working on final drawings and structural engineering now.
