Iron butterfly of love

Soon we’ll be moving on to the body of the butterfly, and I’m stepping back just enough to let my son take the lead on this part of the build.

He graduated high school this year and dreams of becoming an engineer. I honestly can’t think of a better classroom than this—steel, sparks, problem-solving, and a welder in his hands as he helps his old man build a piece of playa art that will hopefully inspire thousands of people.

This project has become so much more than a sculpture. It’s become time together that we’ll remember for the rest of our lives. Every cut, every weld, every mistake, and every victory is becoming part of our story.

To everyone who has donated, shared our fundraiser, offered materials, sent encouragement, or simply believed in us… thank you. You aren’t just helping build an art installation—you are helping build memories between a father and his son that will last forever.
