Do Baskets Dream of Shores or Seas? – looking for on-playa night market collabs

Description

We’re building a playa installation for the 2026 burn centered around a cluster of Vietnamese basket boats (thúng chai).

The idea is a lantern-lit “fishing village” out on the open playa. These will be boats you can sit in, overlooked by a nearby dock. A worry-free environment, where you won’t have to think about swimming towards anything or away from it. You can just relax, float, and let the current take you where it may.

We’d love to layer in an on-playa night market (scheduling TBD) and are looking for collaborators:

Seeking:

– Food gifting (especially Asian / diaspora-inspired, but wide open)
– Tea, sake, or other small-format drink setups
– DJs or live musicians
– Performers (dance, fire spinning, poetry, etc.)
– Small interactive “stalls” (games, readings, etc.)
