I’m an Aussie who’s passionate storytelling, community, and seeing what the world has to offer. I’ve spent the past 4 years working my ass off for good school grades. Now, I’m hoping to find a place where my individuality is valued, not my academic success. Where I’m encouraged to express myself. I think that place is Burning Man.
I know Burning Man is a place where getting involved is really important, and that’s something I’m really excited about. I have a wide range of volunteering experience, putting in 200+ hours of work from groundwork for pet charities to posters and leaflet design for local campaigns, as well as organisation and engagement.
Storytelling is where most of my experience lies. I have a wealth of amateur stage acting experience, including taking part in the British Youth Music Theatre musical More in Common, a musical about loneliness, homelessness, and the refugee crisis. I have experience in improv and comedy, but one of my big interests is Tabletop RPGs. Here, I have hundreds of hours invested in co-operative storytelling as a Dungeon Master and as a player. Asides from that, I have delivered many speeches on matters such as education and politics. I gave a TEDed talk on the benefits of Game-Based Learning and helped younger students write their own speeches.
I have also completed my Duke of Edinburgh bronze and silver awards as well as my gold award expedition, which involves 4 days of hard trek carrying all of your camping supplies for the nights in-between. This has toughened me up to the hardships of the desert and given me plenty of experience working with my team through stress. I’m glad that my teammates considered me a good team player, especially when it came to conflict resolution.
As an individual, I would call myself empathetic and kind. I’m willing to try most things twice. More than anything else, I’m looking for a camp who will help me find my way around the wonderful Black Rock City.
