History: The Recyclops was originally design/built by Mark Dugally and the members of Camp Yum in 2015. Due to unforeseeable circumstances they were unable to keep her going and I was fortunate enough to be able to purchase her in early 2017.
Over the course of many late nights and long weekends, she went through a “cosmetic metamorphosis” and has been successfully permitted on playa for the last three years. She is part of the Black Rock Travel Agency theme camp at the BRC Airport and is also a member of Camp OKNOTOK in the 3 o’clock and A neighborhood.
She is currently stored near BRC and we plan to travel out there this month to wake her from her annual slumber and bring back to our new maker space/carport outside Petaluma. UPDATE: She has arrived at the ranch is ready to be re-imagined!
We are looking for people interested in getting involved with the following Recyclops 2.0 projects:
-New exterior skin system: think fluttery leaves (no feathers) or maybe something wind kinetic like those big wall sculptures that have lots of little things that spin when the wind blows.
-New sound system: think car stereo with speakers throughout entire body of the vehicle and a bass amp.
-Car Electrical System: connect lights/sound system to existing heavy duty alternator/battery system to get rid of generator on back bumper
-Add two chandeliers that will hang from upper eye area
-Add some Big Ass Poofers at the tips of the horns!!!
If any of these ideas interests you or if you or someone you know Just wants to get involved with an art car project we would love to hear from you! We all have some time on our hands (BRC 2021) and I can think of nothing better then to spend it with a couple of creative burners.
